The Sheppey is a gastro pub, in Lower Godney near Wells and Glastonbury, with a great restaurant, three bedrooms and two additional cottages scheduled to open this summer.

The derelict pub was bought at auction in 2010 and left unused for more than a year. After seeing it cleaned up by the current owners to host a friend’s wedding, locals asked them to open it for a few hours a week. It became a huge success with queues at the door at opening time. The owners then decided to renovate the place entirely, adding a dining room and bedrooms. Since 2011, it has become increasingly busy with 800 to 1,000 diners a week. It is now one of the highlights of the area with famous visitors coming from across the UK to dine and taste the many ciders and ales on offer.

Young local chef Kieron Ash leads a team of eight in the kitchen, which serves contemporary British with a strong Mediterranean influence.

Lafontaine PR works with the Sheppey, already holder of an AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence, an AA 4-star award for the rooms and a Taste of the West Gold award, to raise awareness of the food, drink, accommodation and entertainment offering.
